Oak Bay Recreation Centre 50th Anniversary Film

As a documentary filmmaker, I love bringing new ideas and perspectives to my clients.

Oak Bay Rec Centre is a unique community with caring and fun people. I spoke with 11 people and chose five long-time members to feature: two staff and three patrons.

Seven people were needed to tell the story, with five sharing their experiences as patrons.

Preparing for this project took a lot of work. I visited the Rec Centre, outlined the client’s goals, talked with patrons, wrote story notes, mapped out the story, developed questions, created a storyboard and shot list for the DP, set the schedule, and spent three long days filming.

Post-production took a month and included story editing, video editing, color correction, and sound. From planning to delivering the finished film, the whole project took two months.
